Journey into the World of Bingata: A Fusion of Craft and Dance
The ‘Ryukyu Bingata Stay’ at Hoshinoya Okinawa isn’t just a vacation; it’s a gateway to the vibrant world of the traditional Ryukyu craft, Bingata. Originating in the 13th to 14th century and later evolving as a stage costume in the 18th century, Bingata is a craft that interweaves local and foreign cultures and nature into intricate designs.
A highlight of the plan is the Bingata crafting session under artisanal guidance. Guests use traditional patterns with modern twists to create their own masterpieces. This experience offers a deep understanding of Bingata’s tradition, techniques, and artistry.
Also, the viewing of Ryukyu traditional dance, showcasing Bingata as royal court costumes, adds a special touch to the stay. The elegant dance and vibrant costumes embody the beauty of Bingata, promising to leave guests deeply moved.
