Indulge in a Luxurious Moment Soothed by the Unique Flowers of Kamakura, Accompanied by a Fantastical Light-up
Starting from February 4, 2024, Hotel Metropolitan Kamakura will be offering an accommodation plan that includes “Early Spring Hasedera Temple Visit Tickets.” Located just a 15-minute bus or train ride from the hotel, Hasedera Temple greets the full bloom of nine varieties of plum blossoms from mid-February to March. Visitors can enjoy the light-up of these blossoms from dusk.
As evening falls, the temple’s scenery transforms into a mystical landscape, enveloped in a solemn atmosphere. Hasedera is renowned in Kamakura as one of the leading “Temples of Flowers.” After the plum blossoms, visitors can enjoy azaleas, magnolias, and peach blossoms.
Additionally, the unique “Miashi-mairi,” a special event usually held only on December 18th, will be conducted as “New Year Miashi-mairi” during the plan period. This rare experience allows visitors to touch the sacred feet of the Kannon statue, forging a deeper spiritual connection.”Miashi-mairi” refers to the practice of respectfully massaging the feet of a revered individual. This is somewhat akin to certain Christian traditions where believers may kiss the feet of statues as a sign of reverence and devotion. Such practices across different cultures symbolize deep respect and a spiritual connection to the sacred.
The accommodation plan comes in two varieties: one includes the temple visit ticket and a hotel-original Nishijin-ori Goshuincho (temple stamp book), and the other just includes the visit ticket.
