Outdoor Kotatsu
In the observation space, a popular spot for photography, we have set up a tatami area with an unbelievable addition – a “kotatsu” (a traditional Japanese heated table)! Complete with a roof, this rare outdoor kotatsu has become a hit. Our new service, allowing you to cozy up and enjoy the stunning views of Mount Fuji, has already become popular with international travelers.

Our dining options include the all-season favorite ‘Glamping BBQ Plan’ and the seasonal ‘Outdoor Hot Pot Plan (Winter Exclusive)’. The menu features a diverse selection of carefully chosen ingredients, like local Koshu Fujizakura pork and fresh local produce. Enjoy these delicious offerings at your private tent’s BBQ space, all set against the backdrop of stunning scenery!
By the way, in summer we offer a spicy Mexican BBQ, and in spring, an Italian BBQ. These seasonal specialties, crafted with care by our chef, are especially popular among our repeat guests.
In winter, the highlight is a heartwarming, authentic pot-au-feu with beef bone – perfect for warming up. With a variety of warm and delicious options, our comprehensive menu is designed to enhance your glamping experience in Yamanashi.
And yes, we also offer a ‘room-only’ option without meals. Guests are free to rent a BBQ grill and bring their own ingredients for a personalized experience.
Exclusive Open-Air Bath with a Majestic View of Mount Fuji
At Mt.Shakushi Gateway Camp, we offer a private open-air bath made of natural minerals, exclusively for our guests. From the bath, you can enjoy a splendid view of Mount Fuji, and at night, a beautiful nightscape and starry sky await. It’s a perfect way to enjoy the breathtaking scenery in complete privacy.
The facility also includes warm water showers, a range of amenities, separate toilets for men and women, and spacious washbasins. This makes outdoor experiences comfortable and worry-free all year round, even for families with children or women who are new to camping.
About Mt.Shakushi Gateway Camp
Mt.Shakushi Gateway Camp, a glamping facility, opened in early summer 2019 in Fujikawaguchiko Town, Yamanashi Prefecture. Located on the slopes of the popular trekking destination, Shakushi Mountain, the camp is surrounded by a rich natural environment with a magnificent view of Mount Fuji and the Southern Alps in the distance. Guests can enjoy the stunning sunsets at the foot of Mount Fuji and the beautiful nightscape of the city lights under a star-filled sky after dark.
With its prime location, one of the best in Japan, the camp features 14 dome tents. These double-insulated tents with heating and cooling offer a comfortable stay. Guests can enjoy a luxurious outdoor experience, including stays in these exceptional dome tents and baths in the private open-air bath made of natural minerals, offering spectacular views.
The camp has gained popularity domestically and internationally, partly due to being a location for drama filming. Last year, responding to the high demand and waitlists, we added 4 ‘Grand Suite’ rooms with superior views, a barrel sauna with an outstanding view, and a private open-air bath.
