The property, originally built in 1885 (Meiji 18) by the then shipping magnate Endo Kichihei, has been preserved in its original architectural glory. Its stone-like appearance with brick walls and plaster, arch windows, and a tile roof blend Japanese and Western styles. Designated as a scenic building by the city of Hakodate, it has been renovated to reflect the craftsmanship of the era. The furniture and fittings are mainly antiques and works by artists from Hokkaido.
3. Within Walking Distance of the Red Brick Warehouses and Mount Hakodate

Although the building was cherished by local residents, by the time Staple Hakodate discovered it in March 2023, it had significantly aged, and there was a strong community desire to see it revitalized.
After careful consideration of how to utilize the space, it underwent approximately nine months of design and construction, ultimately reopening as an exclusive rental accommodation.
